SAAT: An Approach to Resetting the Body’s Response
Soliman Auricular Acupuncture Treatment: a gentle, science-based method designed to help the body find balance in the face of food, environmental, and immune-related sensitivities.
What is SAAT
Soliman’s Auricular Allergy Technique (SAAT) is a precise ear acupuncture method developed by Dr. Nader Soliman to help calm the body’s overreaction to foods, environmental triggers, chemicals, and even its own immune or hormone signals.
It’s designed for people whose bodies react strongly to things like:
-
certain foods (for example dairy, gluten, eggs, or shellfish)
-
environmental factors (like pollens, molds, dust, or animal dander)
-
chemicals, additives, or medications
-
immune or hormone imbalances that cause the body to attack or overreact to itself
During a SAAT session, we identify which substances your body is reacting to. A tiny sterile needle is placed at a specific point on your ear that stimulates the immune system to quiet its reactivity. That point stays gently stimulated for about three to four weeks while your brain and body relearn to respond in a calmer, more balanced way.

SAAT is a gentle, natural, and highly individualized approach. It doesn’t rely on medications or shots, and there’s no guesswork. Each person’s plan is tailored to their own sensitivities, and the goal is to help the body reset its response in a sustainable way.

Conditions Addressed with SAAT
SAAT can be used to help calm sensitivity and allergy-type reactions across a wide range of areas. Each person’s plan is tailored to their unique pattern of triggers and symptoms.
Food Sensitivities
SAAT can be used for common food reactions such as:
-
Dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt, whey, casein)
-
Wheat and gluten-containing grains
-
Eggs
-
Peanuts and tree nuts
-
Shellfish and other seafood
-
Soy
-
Additives, gums, and preservatives such as carrageenan, xanthan gum, and guar gum
Many people choose SAAT when they have ongoing food reactions that haven’t improved with elimination diets alone.

Environmental Triggers
Environmental allergens can be constant sources of inflammation for sensitive individuals. SAAT can address:
-
Pollens (trees, grasses, weeds)
-
Mold and mildew exposure
-
Dust and dust mites
-
Animal dander and saliva (cats, dogs, horses, etc.)

Alpha-Gal Syndrome
SAAT has been widely used for those with Alpha-Gal, a tick-related allergy to mammalian meat and products.
It can help reduce reactions to:
-
Beef, pork, lamb, or game meats
-
Dairy and gelatin-containing foods
-
Mammal-based materials such as wool, leather, or lanolin
-
Hidden sources of mammal products in supplements, cosmetics, and medications

Immune and Autoimmune Reactivity
Some people experience ongoing immune “overdrive” that can resemble allergy but is rooted in immune dysregulation.
SAAT can be part of a plan to address:
-
Mast Cell Activation-type reactions (MCAS-like patterns)
-
Chronic inflammatory or pain conditions
-
Reactions to one’s own immune proteins or antibodies
(This approach is supportive and does not replace medical management for autoimmune disease.)
Hormone-Related Sensitivities
Both internal and external hormones can sometimes trigger unwanted symptoms such as headaches, rashes, or mood changes.
SAAT may be used to address sensitivities to:
-
Natural hormone fluctuations (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol, thyroid)
-
Prescription or replacement hormones, including birth control or HRT products
These cases are handled carefully and in coordination with your prescribing clinician if you use hormone-based medications.
Chemical and Additive Sensitivities
Everyday exposures can sometimes be the hardest to pinpoint. SAAT can be used when people react to:
-
Fragrances and perfumes
-
Cleaning products and detergents
-
Preservatives and dyes
-
Latex
-
MSG and artificial flavorings
-
Other household or workplace chemicals
Each person’s pattern of sensitivity is unique. The goal of SAAT is not to suppress symptoms but to help the body restore a normal response so daily life feels more predictable, comfortable, and sustainable.
How the SAAT Process Works
1) Consult & Testing – We review your history and use gentle, non-invasive neuromuscular methods to identify priority targets.
2) Precise Ear Placement – Tiny sterile needles (~3 mm) are placed at specific ear points and secured with a protective dressing.
3) Three-to-Four-Week Reset Period – The ear needles remain in place while the body recalibrates its response. You’ll follow simple care and exposure guidelines.
4) Follow-Up / Next Session – We remove the needles, confirm progress, and—when indicated—advance to the next category of sensitivities.

Safety & What to Expect
Every person’s body responds differently to SAAT. Some notice shifts quickly, while others take a little longer as the body works through each layer of sensitivity. The process is paced according to your body’s readiness — we move gradually, not on a fixed schedule.
Your safety always comes first. SAAT is a gentle process, but like all clinical procedures, there are important precautions to follow:
-
SAAT is not provided for individuals with a history of anaphylactic shock (loss of consciousness, airway compromise, or dangerously low blood pressure).
-
People with other strong allergic reactions (such as hives, rashes, itching, or GI upset) may still be eligible after evaluation.
-
While the tiny needles remain in place (about 3–4 weeks), you’ll avoid the treated allergen(s) and follow simple ear-care guidelines: keep the area clean and dry, avoid friction or trauma, and protect the adhesive patch.
-
A follow-up visit confirms your progress and determines whether additional categories need to be addressed.
-
Blood test markers (like IgE) may or may not change — progress is usually measured by symptom and functional improvement.
-
SAAT is not a substitute for emergency care. If you have a history of severe allergic reactions, continue to carry and use prescribed medications (like an EpiPen or inhaler) as directed by your physician.

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. SAAT is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

FAQs

What is SAAT?
Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment (SAAT) is an advanced ear acupuncture protocol designed to help the body stop overreacting to allergens. Tiny, semi-permanent needles are placed at highly specific points on the outer ear corresponding to each allergen identified through resonance testing. These points remain in place for 3–4 weeks while the body recalibrates its immune response.
What are the needles like? Does it hurt?
The needles used for SAAT are extremely small—about the width of a hair. They are inserted just under the skin of the outer ear, parallel to the surface, and are then secured with hypoallergenic medical adhesive and protective tape.
Most people feel little to no discomfort during placement. Once secured, the needles are typically not felt at all.

How do the needles stay in place?
Each needle is carefully covered and sealed to protect it during the 3–4 week treatment period. You’ll be given aftercare instructions and ear covers for bathing to keep the area clean, dry, and protected from friction or trauma.

How many allergens can be treated per session?
Typically, up to five allergens can be treated in one session (about one hour). In certain cases—and if time allows—additional allergens may be addressed safely depending on ear anatomy, patient reactivity, and practitioner discretion.

How many sessions will I need?

While some individuals experience significant improvement after just one or two sessions, most common is five to eight sessions, depending on complexity, the number of sensitivities identified, and how the body responds.
Your plan will be personalized based on your reactivity, symptom patterns, and progress.

What if I’m sensitive to the metal, plaster, or surgical glue?
This can occasionally occur, particularly in highly sensitive individuals. If you’ve experienced irritation from metals, tapes, or adhesives before, please let us know ahead of time.
We can modify materials and may first address reactivity to these substances through preliminary desensitization before needle placement.

When should I schedule my SAAT session?
For the best experience during the 3–4 week period while needles are in place:
-
Keep the area dry. Avoid swimming or immersing your ears in water. A shower cover will be provided.
-
Keep the area clean. Avoid environments with excessive dust, debris, or friction.
-
Avoid the allergen(s) being treated while the needles are in place. Food allergens should be completely avoided; environmental exposures minimized as much as practical.
If you have strong seasonal allergies, it’s ideal to schedule SAAT before your usual allergy season begins.

What is the testing procedure?
Success with SAAT depends on accurately identifying the substances that provoke your symptoms.
If you’ve already had allergy testing, please bring printed results to your appointment. However, many conventional blood tests may not capture energetic or delayed sensitivities.

If testing is needed, it can be done in our clinic—often on the same day as needle placement—using Bi-Digital O-Ring Testing (BDORT) and resonance samples to determine your specific allergen triggers.

What are “remedies” and are they required?
Remedies are sometimes used to support the immune and histamine balance during your SAAT process—particularly in complex or multi-system cases, or when histamine intolerance is active.
They are individualized and not required for all patients, but may enhance comfort and stability between sessions.

How much does it cost?
Each SAAT session (approximately one hour) is $350, which includes consultation, testing, and placement of up to five needles.
If a needle loosens or falls out, a needle replacement session may be scheduled for $95.

Optional remedies, if used, are priced separately based on individual needs.

How safe is SAAT?
SAAT is extremely gentle and has an excellent safety record. It is not provided for individuals with a history of anaphylactic shock (loss of consciousness, airway compromise, or dangerously low blood pressure).
For those with other strong reactions (rashes, hives, GI upset), the procedure may still be performed with modifications.
Always continue to carry prescribed emergency medications (e.g., EpiPen, inhaler) if applicable.

How will I know it’s working?
Improvement is typically tracked by symptom change and function, not necessarily by lab results (e.g., IgE). Many people notice accidental exposures no longer provoke reactions. Progress is evaluated at each follow-up.

Can children receive SAAT?
Yes. SAAT can be used in children, usually beginning around age four, depending on comfort level and clinical judgment.

Can I combine SAAT with other treatments?
Yes. SAAT integrates well with most other therapies, including Traditional Chinese Medicine, nutrition, detoxification, and functional medicine protocols.
If you’re undergoing other allergy or desensitization therapies, please discuss timing and coordination with your practitioner.
